Tennis Players
Tennis players have a huge advantage when coming to pickleball. Their footwork, groundstokes, overhead smash, some strategy, hand eye coordination all give them a head start compared to non tennis players.
There are some things that tennis players need to be aware of:
After serving, don't come into the court. Stay behind the baseline. Serve and Stay. You can't serve and volley in pickleball.
Serving will rarely produce an ace or return error.
Overhead smashes are not always put-aways, especially when your opponents are behind the baseline. The ball doesn't bounce that high so even a good smash is returnable.
Top spin and slice spin don't kick nearly as much as a tennis ball.
Drives and serve speed top out at 50-55mph
Games are over quickly, 10-25 min.
The Non Volley Zone takes a while to get used to, especially if you loved to play at the net in tennis.
All 4 players dinking at the net is a bit boring compared to tennis.
